Started this trial yesterday…just curious if anyone else is participating and what the side effects are? I have a very swollen throat today and its got me a little concerned. I didnt think I would have any effects after the first treatment. Headahce, naseua and this sore throat are bothering me. Finally got rid of the headache and nasuea but not the sore throat…any input on anyone else in this trial i would greatly appreciate.

I have just finished the initial 4 doses of ipi /novo. The site effects are noticeable but I wouls expect your treatment team will be looking to provide close supervision.  My most severe reaction was inflamed liver that was quickly treated with steroids and the issue quickly resolved. My treatment was suspended for a week but restarted a week later.  Overall  you may notice lots of changes including fatigue. I have continued to work and just take things as they come.  Share your condition with your treatment team as early response is important.  Hope you get the results that you are looking for.  Chris.

My husband is in week 4 of this trial at Texas Oncology @ Baylor Dallas.  He really hasn't seen many side effects and when I ask him he doesn't have a lot to report.  I've noticed he seems a bit more tired lately.  This man usually rises at 4AM to work out every day and now he sleeps in and skips workouts more than usual.  Other than that we are waiting to see if anything else pops up.  Blood work has been stable so far and Dr. Cowey said most side effects will manifest by week 6-8.  Going today for 3rd infusion / week 4.  I wish you the best of luck.  This is a great opportunity to be a part of this trial – lots of promising results hoping to be seen from this trial.

Just got done signing papers in Chicago. Pray to God I pass screening. I’m very nervous about the trial…I guess more about my outcome in the trial. In the end I need to come to an agreement with myself that I’ve done what I can and get my head strait and put my faith in whatever path I’m led down. Good luck to everyone taking this route.

I started the trial 2 days ago (9/30/15). I was profoundly tired the first day, but chalked it up to a very long day and the anxiety of the unknown. I still feel constantly like I'd just love to curl up somewhere and take a nap. The evening of the infusion I had an emergency run to the bathroom with very loose stools, but no problem since on that front. I had an autoimmune skin disorder, granuloma annularae (GA) that was what I was being treated for when the melanoma was discovered that had been dormant for about 3 months after treatment. It lit right up and seems as active as ever now. I've had generalized itching, but nothing unbearable. This morning I woke up with a very sore throat. I haven't seen that on any of the possible side effects lists, so it's interesting that you are experiencing that too. Since it's been a few months since you posted, can you give us an update on the sore throat issue?
