I have a mole that is changing color. The last pic I can find of it is from late 2014, so about 18 months ago, and it was a barely-there brown, like most of my freckles. Now it's a much darker brown and darker than anything else on my arms. The thing is…it's only 1mm, so I don't know if it's even worth having it looked at. I'll bring it up at my next skin check regardless (6 months from now), but does it warrant making an appointment sooner? What would you do in my shoes?

I would continue to watch it, if it changes a lot in the next month or two I would get a sooner appointment to have it looked at. Things on our bodies change all the time, so sometimes it's just a normal change, just good to keep an eye on it, monitor, take a photo of it now and compare in a month, take another photo and compare a month after that. That's what I'd do at least. For some, the anxiety of what ifs gets the better of them and having a sooner appointment to put their mind at ease can help. Just depends on each person.

Thanks for the reply, Jenn. That's what I'm leaning toward. I have a re-excision this week, so I think I'm just thinking about and worrying about my skin more than I typically do. My re-excision isn't with my normal doctor, so I don't know if he'll be open to looking at it while I'm there. Otherwise, I'd just count on mentioning it then to put my mind at ease.

Might as well ask the doctor that is doing your re-excision to take a look and get their quick opinion. They might give a similar answer, to watch it. Doesn't hurt to ask ๐
