I only found this forum last night and already really glad I did!
Hubby had a groin dissection week and a half ago and I wondered if the draining of fluid is normal. It started to decrease to minimum 150ml but since last week has been steadily rising again. It's now back up to 200ml (sometimes over), no signs of reduction and will be two weeks in a couple days….. is this normal? X

It took over 6 weeks before my draining stopped enough to remove my JP bulbs. In that time I spent nearly 2 weeks at Sloan Kettering with a post-op infection. Don't worry t much and if he starts runnng a fever, or sees some redness creeping down from the incision site, let your surgeon know. It will clear up…everyone in their own rime accord g to their individual, biology i guess! Good luck!!

I know my husbands varied from day to depending on his level of activity. Sometimes we got 300ml out of the drain per day. As long as there are no signs of infection then he should be good.Janis

Yes this is normal. I ended up with lymphadema but I had my drains at least 6 weeks. I dont know if you are going to have lymphadema if this is the way it works or not. -

I was over 5 weeks and fluid amounts would start to go down and then go back up. Very frustrating and hard to be patient. My surgery was in July and I just got CT results today and I'm still clear. Be strong and patient. One day at a time worked well for me. Good luck!
