Does anyone have any suggestions for someone that is on Opdivo/Yervoy and their mouth is so dry it is difficult to eat. Water does not seem to help and he is using a rinse for dry mouth, but its difficult to use it as often as he feels the need.
Thank you!

The lozenges for dry mouth are my favorite. Also chewing on gum helps too. Eating foods like watetmelon or soup, things that are really moist is what I go for when I have dry mouth. I don’t get dry mouth too often, but when I do it can be very annoying.-

I also get dry mouth and have found, for some reason, cold foods seem to taste better to me. Soup is good, too, as Jenn said. Carbohydrates are the worst for me – any bread or crust or potato tastes like paper to me. When I was sick with pneumonia last fall and lost my appetite, I did try Ensure shakes; they were pretty good, but they did give me diahrrea. I also sucked on ice chips, but don't know if that is recommended or not. It sure did feel good, though!

I had no salava for 11 weeks, tried everything I could find at stores and places like CVS, nothing help. My dr prescribed me artifical salava which worked for about 5 seconds.I had to carry water everywhere due my mouth and throat would get so dry I would choke. I would wake up in the night with my tounge stuck to the roof of my mouth. You also need to carry salt and baking soda water around to keep your mouth rinsed out. During this time my breath became horrible also. It has been about 4 months since and sometimes after a treatment my salava will get really thick for a few days. I ate alot of food that had sauces, gravies or juices with it.
