Hello everyone, thank you for taking the time to read my question. I had a shave biopsy an ‘done onugly ducking’ mole last Wednesday 2/20. My dermatologist originally noticed it at my yearly checkup last fall but instead of removing it then she told me to come back in 3 months for another look. Well she took one look at this time and said it needed to come off immediately. I am of course freaking out because what did she see this 2nd time to have that reaction? She didn’t say it changed, just that she didn’t like it. It was on the back of my upper leg, nowhere near any of my other 60+ moles. I called the office today at noon and was told the results were back but hadn’t been reviewed yet and that if I didn’t get a call in the next couple days to call back. What could this mean? My Dr told me she would give me the results over the phone but if it was good news wouldn’t she have called today when the results came in? I am so afraid that the results are bad and she is waiting to call me until a plan is made. I have already decided that I’m going to call when they open tomorrow and demand my results because how is it ok to have them and not tell me what they are?

I absolutely detest the fact that doctors won't provide results as soon as they come in — surely they know we are waiting on edge to hear.  But, sadly, they don't.  It isn't unusual for the doctor to review a bunch of labs at one time and then have their staff call to provide the results.  I don't think you can read anything into the fact that you haven't been contacted yet.
