      Hello,

      I found a large and new mole on my breast after I was pregnant in 2017. I had my family dr look at the mole and she recommended I take a picture of it.

      I forgot about the mole for two years, I stumbled on the original picture when I was looking at pictures of my son.

      I took another picture and showed the comparison to my new family dr. He is going to remove the mole this week and send it for biopsy. Here is the picture:

      I am going through a lot of anxiety, because I left this mole for two years. Has anyone had a similar experience, and what was your prognosis?

          You are doing the right thing right now and that’s what matters. I can understand you are anxious, we’ve been there. You have to look forward. Hope for the best and plan for the worst. This site has a treatment center finder. Start figuring out where you’ll go if it’s positive for melanoma, but also plan your celebration if it’s negative. Don’t Google stats. Melanoma treatment is changing so rapidly that it is not reflected in stats on the internet. Hugs and prayers for you!

            In terms of time passing and feeling like waiting allowed the “beast to breed”, I can relate. Not through complacency on my part, but my mole went undiagnosed for 4-5 years. I had been to 2 dermatologists who both said it was nothing, and a third, who also thought it was nothing, but said “if it bothers you it bothers me”, and removed it for biopsy. When I found that it was melanoma I feared that I had let it go too long and it had most likely spread to Mars and beyond. I had a wide excision in March of 2018, and a SLNB which showed clear margins with no spreading. I was staged at 1B, and other than a very close relationship with my dermatologist and a casual relationship with my surgical oncologist, nothing else has developed to date. I keep vigilant and find support and info on this site, and I hope you do as well – best of luck for a good outcome.
