Tina, please make sure your referral is to a melanoma specialist. June 2 is actually fairly soon to get in to see one, that's great. Get yourself ready for a little more surgery in a likelihood. You are just above the cutoff for doing the surgery. More around the original site referred to as a Wide Lateral Excision (WLE) and probably a Sentinel Node Biopsy (SNB). You can look up both procedures on this site. Bust honestly, depending on the location, they are really not a big deal. Done on an out patient basis and should be no complications. If after that you have no signs of cancer, you should be done with this mess, except for follow-up visits.

I would agree with Frank.
Just so you know, it is totally normal to want our treatments, lab reports and such right now. The hardes thing is the waiting. Unfortunately, doctors have other patients and can't always get to us immediately.
I agree that a few weeks makes no difference, except in your stress level. Find something you enjoy doing and try (at least for a few minutes each day) to get your mind off of the cancer.
Try to laugh each day. I happen to like the "cancer t-shirt" websites. They make me laugh.

I can't think of any specific questions that you should ask, as it is very soon after your
diagnosis. It is probably just a matter of finding out what the recommendations are on
Thursday, and then telling us about them.Good luck.
