I found a Melanoma last year, 2010, when I was pregnant with my son. It was early, in situ, minor surgery, no big deal.
My sister and my cousin have also had Melanoma. Sunday night, 6/19 I found a mole on the outside of my knee that I know had not been there. It’s about the size of a pencil eraser, more red than brown and slightly raised. Last night, Friday I found another about five inches away almost identical. I know it had not been there. I also had some numbness in my toes recently that I just attributed to my migraines, probably a coincidence. It’s Saturday. If they are fast growing melanoma, they are growing really fast. I have had the service page my dermatologist but so far no answer. What would you do???????

Where was the location of your insitu melanoma? Is it near the location of the two moles you are concerned about now?
Talk to the derm and make an appointment. If you can’t get one soon (holidays coming up), try to get a cancellation if possible.
Please, also keep in mind that in addition to certain foods, lack of sleep, fatigue and stress can bring on both tension and migraine headaches, so try to relax until you get an appointment and have the derm look at the moles to see if they need to be biopsied.
I am sure you are aware that insitu melanoma has virtually a 100% 5 and 10 year survival, so I am betting this is something else instead. Also be aware that people do get new moles over the course of their lifetime as well.
Congrats on being a mother too!

The in situ Melanoma was on my chest and I feel confident that this is not related.
I think it’s just the history, number of moles including dysplastic nevi and family history that is making me a little nervous. My body has been in a funk since my last pregnancy which included diabetes, kidney stones, a spot on my retina, the melanoma, anemia and since then I am vitamin D deficient. I just finished a course of 50,000 units a week and I’m currently taking 2000 units a day per my doctor.
I look really healthy and I am. Just feel like I need to be a little vigilant right now.
Thanks so much for your response!

Hello! I would call my doctor ASAP and try to get in Monday! Even if you get ahold of your dermatologist he will probably have you come in on Monday.
I went to the emergency room and nothing was done except they gave me a antibiotic for my ulcerated mole and told me to see my dermatologist. Try to relax this weekend and not stress yourself out. ( I know it's easier said than done) It could be nothing but for sure get it checked!!!
Let us know!

I would just call and get in as soon as you can. I freak out ALL THE TIME, then when I go in ends up being no big deal. I have the nevi problem too. Has the doctor offered to do photo servalience for you? I would do that too. Forgive the spelling-even spell check isn't recognizing my lingo.

From a medical perspective, a few days more or less will with very high probability not make a difference for you prognosis. But psychologically it is of course a good idea to get this clarified soon.
New moles by itself are not necessarily a cause for concern. The younger you are, the more normal it is to get new moles. Some people get new (benign) moles all through their life…
