Hi! Just read your profile, and I'm in "Useless" (Euless). We're neighbors! lol! There are quite a few of us "north Texans" here on the MPIP. Sometimes we have 'get-togethers" or Chat-n-Chows" to meet up and, well, chat and eat! =) I'll send out a message to a couple of friends I've met who are more familiar with Dallas-area specialists.
My onc isn't a mel. specialist, but I love love love her. She's a brain tumor specialist, but of course, has lots of training in (and buddies who deal) with melanoma. She has an office in Dallas and Ft. Worth. She works out of Medical City in Dallas, and out of the prof. building by Harris – Ft. Worth (or whatever it's called now). There ARE mel specialists at UT Southwestern in Dallas.. I'll have to ask some friends for some names. I know there is a Dr. Beitsch who is a surgeon affiliated with UTS—-he removed some "junk" from me a few years back (wasn't mel, thank God). Also, they used to have a "pigmented lesion" clinic where people go to have stuff removed–I'm assuming they still do (it's been 10+ years since a friend who went there told me about it). At the time, it was every Friday. Heck, call 'em. Their website is http://www.utsouthwestern.edu/patientcare/medicalservices/dermatology/melanoma.html
To be honest, MOST people I know who are stage 3 or 4 go to MD Anderson in Houston. It's one of the top melanona hospitals in the nation, if not the world. Personally, I don't wanna drive (and hate to fly) 4-5 hours everytime I wanna see a doc, especially in Houston traffic! Going the 20 minutes to Ft. Worth is enough for me.. hahah!! But, i'm Stage 2B, so if I progress, I'll probably jump on a plane to get there. =)
Email me? [email protected] and/or call me on my cell (817-907-9109) and we'll get you put on the "local-yokels" list of melanoma people around here (patients and caregivers). And I'd love to meet you!

(Nooooo.. I don't look OR dress like barbie–I'm just a 49-yr-old who collects and still plays with dolls! LOL!) I picked the nickname because there were a couple of Lisa's already on here when I found this place back in 1999.
ps.. gonna post under this for all Dallas/Ft. Worth people….so they'll see the post.
