      Has anyone had a yervoy, or even through a trial (ipi) reiunduction?  My husband had a mixed response to Yervoy–2 solid tumors (one near his heart and one in his GI tract) completely disappeared, but 2 new ones have developed (before his 14 week scans) since then.  They are slowly growing.  We stumbled upon the fact that several people have had insurance cover Yervoy reinductions.  We are wondering how many doses anyone received.  I know that according to the website, they'll do a full 4 doses (assuming we can get insurance to cover it), but we know that some o

      Has anyone had a yervoy, or even through a trial (ipi) reiunduction?  My husband had a mixed response to Yervoy–2 solid tumors (one near his heart and one in his GI tract) completely disappeared, but 2 new ones have developed (before his 14 week scans) since then.  They are slowly growing.  We stumbled upon the fact that several people have had insurance cover Yervoy reinductions.  We are wondering how many doses anyone received.  I know that according to the website, they'll do a full 4 doses (assuming we can get insurance to cover it), but we know that some of the trials did doses less often.  We know that the cancer stopped growing and started shrinking sometime before his 2nd dose in the original reinduction–he stopped bleeding from the GI tumor) and are worried that a full 4 doses could be too much.  We were wondering about 1 dose every 2-3 months to simply keep the cancer at bay.  Any thoughts??  He's the only patient his doctor has on Yervoy.  We've consulted with a specialist a couple of times, but he says there's no "right" thing to do for the reinduction.  We were just curious as to what other people had done.  Thank you

          The only way your insurance Carrier will even consider covering the cost of further treatments is to have a doctor who believes it is the right course of action.

          My recommendation is to find a treatment center/Dr. that has experience with trial IPIs.  that is the only way you'll get a experienced assessment of the possible continuation of IPI. This is in no way a reflection on your current Dr., but trial locations have the experience dealing almost a full range of known side effects and they may have experience relevant to your situation.

              I am getting ready to start Ipi, but I’m going to look into PD-1 or PDL-1 that everyone is buzzing about. Anyway, I travel to The Angeles Clinic where people travel from all over the world to get treatment. They have probably done over 100 trials with Ipi. Dr. Boasberg is a miracle worker and he is so positive about treatment. If you can travel to Santa Monica it is sooooooooo worth it. His number is 310-231-2121. Good luck in your decision and don’t forget to stay positive! ! !
