I am doing a re-induction of Ipi and just had my first dose last Wed., April 4th. I am having a lesion between my stomach and spleen cyberknifed. I will have 4 treatments – the first starting tomorrow. My oncologist spoke with a colleague of Dr. Wolchok"s at Memorial Sloan Kettering and he recommended doing the cyberknife between the first and second infusion. I have ocular melanoma and have also had a cutaneous melanoma. I had Ipi in 2010 and had stable disease until Jan., 2012 when the mass by my spleen grew. Good thing is, I have NO NEW lesions. I'm hoping for the "abscopal effect"!!
Best wishes,

My first treatment was radiation for 2 weeks and during the second week I begun temodar. Temodar is though to make melanoma more sensitive to radiation. If your onc needs info about radiation you should consider going to a comprehensive melanoma center. At stage 4 you can't afford to deal with oncologists who don't know melanoma….Stage 4 and NED for over 2 years now.

Mike, definitely look into radiation as well as Yervoy. I had good results thus far post the 4th yervoy infusion and radio static procedure for a brain met done between infusion 3and 4 (Prior lung met removed via surgery last August). Check Dr Jed Wolchuks paper on the radiation-Yervoy treatment combo on the MSK web site. Good Luck. -
