Hi everyone… just a quick question… it will sound relatively mild but ive been wondering. My father passed away from stage four melanoma two years ago. i went and had mine checked and i had a melanoma in very early stages on my back.. so i had it removed with a two centimetre margin. Have had a mole map and all other moles look ok, so im told… i have a rather large mole, size of tip of little finger lower abdomen area…. i have been told it does NOT look like a melanoma.. However im curious? it was quite small about ten years ago… a sort off tiny dot size..

However im curious? it was quite small about ten years ago… a sort off tiny dot size.. it has grown over ten years… and is now almost size of tip of little finger area… but i am still told it does not look like melanoma…. Isnt a growing mole a sign of something not quite right? or is it normal for them to grow in size/???? also, should i just get it removed and checked anyway. The doctor and skin specialist tells me there is not cause to worry?? so should i believe them… or err on the side of caution?? thankyou all replies will be read and appreciated.

Moles can grow and be nothing. However, with your family history and your history it's better to have it removed!  It's your choice and if this derm won't remove it then find another.   I did insist on 3 moles to be removed, he refused. Found another derm and all 3 ended up being ok!  Sometimes you just have to take a chance and change Drs.

My question are you seeing a derm that specialized in melanoma?  If not I would see one as they are better versed in what to look for.  Otherwise go with your gut feelings.

I would have it removed if you feel strongly about it. My husbands Dr told him that his mole looked like nothing even though I knew it was as I had watched it grow and change. So my husband put off removal for 7 months. The mole came back melanoma and one pos lymph node making him a stage 3. Sometimes you have to act on your feelings.

A mole on my left cheek. It stings so I knew it was going to work, after the garlic dried a bit I cut it up and crushed it, I thought to add some vinegar to it which worked perfectly because it is an acid it works with the iodine to beat the mole! Make sure to crush it and put a bit of vinegar in, get a bit of kitchen role and scrunch it up, soak up the vinegar and make sure you get some garlic, the garlic sticks to the mole and works even better. USE IT IT WORKS.
