Literally JUST finishing my 2nd dose of IPI and got scheduled for a brain MRI Thursday and extra labs to check pituitary due to extremely low (.03)!! TSH and very minor headache. Cortisol and Total T4 are completely normal. My doc actually called my labs”wacky”. Talking about steroids again although I just got off these for stopping Zel. Can anyone shed any light on this? If you have pituitary problems and need steroids can you continue on Yervoy??

      Thanks!!

My husbands body quit producing prednisone.  So he is on a low dose prednisone of 7.5 mg a day which is the amount a body normally produces and he is still on yervoy.  He is in a clinical trial for 19 months now.  Maybe this is what they are talking about for you.

Thanks Judy. This Yervoy stuff is all new to me. I’m glad to know you can be on steroids and still have a great response.

Hi there.  I believe that the Yervoy literature states that one can be on on steroids at 7.5 mg/day or less and remain on Yervoy.

I  had a terrible case of colitis as side effect of Yervoy, and as a result of steroids developed adrenal insufficiency.  Had to go BACK on steroids to get rid of that.  The colitis came after my 3rd infusion…there was no 4th!

Good luck and let us know how you're doing.

Thanks Karen. My doc’s plan for me is 3.. Maybe 4 infusions depending on how it goes, so we’ll just have to see. 🙂

My husband had the initial 4 infusion and he has had another infusion every 12 weeks since completeing the initial 4.  That is the clinical trial he is on.  The ones after the inital 12 are called  maintenance doses and he also get GMCSF shots 2 weeks on and 1 week off of the shots since he began March 2011.

You need to visit some experience doctor so they will take care of this and this is normal case for now.

YERVOY can cause serious side effects in many parts of your body which can lead to death. These side effects are most likely to begin during treatment; however, side effects can show up months after your last infusion.
