Last friday i found out that i have nodular mel.. Doing what most normal people do, i went to the internet. I am at my wits end. I am 41 military in good shape. This is not supposed to happen to me. I had a growth on my earlobe that i didnt bother with until i found a mole that i didnt like. The mole was benign but the growth turned out to be NM. Tomorrow i go to Brooks Army Hospitol to do tests. The information i have about my growth is what my derm.gave me. They shaved 2.7mm off but didnt get the root for right now and this growth was on my ear for about 4 months.

Stop reading on the Internet:)! It is really scary, but until you get all the information and the staging, there’s no use in researching. Most likely it’s stage 1 or 2…it’s only stage 3 if it’s spread to lymph nodes and stage 4 if it spread to distant organs…probably not likely. There are many people on here that are living with melanoma and doing fine. There are 2 new medications that have been approved in the past 2 years that are working wonders for stage 4 patients, along with several others in trial. Try to take a deep breath…waiting is the hardest! Melanoma is scary, but there is lots of hope for patients. -

My heart goes out to you and your wife. I do not have any great wisdom to share, only personal experience. My husband was diagnosed Stage III Nodular Melanoma 3 years ago. He is still Stage III today. I also went straight to the internet and scared the hell out of myself. I pray that you will find a peace that passes all understanding.

What we have all learned is to stay off " DR. Google"… The internet had my wife going crazy. She yesterday had her 2nd treatment of Yervoy "ipi". Staying around positive people and knowing you are going to win makes the biggest difference in the world.. This site has great people on here to ask questions and get answers. My wife was diagnosed Dec 7 2012 with Stage 4 metastized melanoma.
