My husband’s SUV is currently 1.8 from 7.8 seven months ago. Does anyone know at what level it’s considered not active? The tumor in the lung decreased by 24.5% as well. Just trying to hold on to whatever we can at this point. It’s been 8 months of hoping & waiting since my husband’s original doctor told him he had only one year to live.
      Thanks

Depth of primary is below 1mm?  But it’s stage 4?  (reading profile, trying to assess the scenario)

It wasn’t until my husband went in for an X-ray to get a knee scope that they saw a mass on his right middle lobe of his lung. The biopsy showed it was melanoma. The dr said it was metastactic stage IV. We were in shock because his dermatologist said they got it all on his shoulder and chances that it could spread was less than 1%. But, low and behold, here we are facing this beast and hoping the clinical trial he’s in will work. They originally said they could not respect the tumor. And, now the oncologist is thinking maybe we’ll see in September.
Thanks for looking at my question.

Sorry.  I just hate the "less than 1% chance" crap they tell us.

My husband’s suv is now @ 1.5. No change in size. Just stable. Can u tell me if I should hold on to the hope that the low suv is an indication that the tumor is dying of a slow death? Or, is this just wishful thinking. The doctor says its good, it that’s about it. B
                            Thanks

Standard uptake value. It measures the intensity & activity of the tumor.

I found this in a scientific paper: SUV less than 1.5 mean no increased metabolic activity over normal; SUV less the 3.0 means slightly elevated metabolic activity but not conclusive for metastatic growth.

Sounds like good news for your husband! smiley

My husband's current scan is showing that the tumor is stable but his SUV is up to 4.0 from 1.5.  I'm concerned that the tumor may be acting up again.  He's been stable for 18 months now.  Does anyone know if this is common for stage iv melanoma or is this time to try some other medication? There are no new lesions.  Our oncologist didn't say anything about the suv other than we'll have to keep an eye on it.  Can someone who's familiar enough give me some information.

                                                Thank you
