Yes, that's where I take my father. Everyone we've dealt with there — and there have been many — has been wonderful. I'd definitely recommend that you meet with Dr. Daud — he's fantastic. Any specific questions, just ask, and I'll answer as best I can!

Ah, okay. She's wonderful too. Dr. Ortiz was the first doctor we saw, and we did see her twice. From what I can tell, she is the dermatologist who does the preliminary diagnosis. We saw her for Dad's original referral and then again when he had a recurrence. From her, we were sent to Dr. Daud, who is an oncologist and handles the treatment phase. Dr. Ortiz and Dr. Daud are the clinic directors. We've also seen Dr. Algazi, another oncologist there. Honestly, everyone at that hospital has been great.
Where are you located? We come from Sacramento, and they've been fantastic about scheduling to make things easier for us.

Another thing I should mention about Dr. Ortiz is that she's really nice. I emailed her with questions a few times, and she always responded promptly. Once, she actually called me on the phone around 8 pm to discuss something. They really do have a fantastic team at UCSF.

You're very welcome, Stephanie. You'll be in great hands at UCSF. Be forewarned that their offices aren't fancy or anything, but they are definitely top-notch at what they do. My Dad has his healthcare at Mercy, and they were wanting to amputate his leg! The best thing you can do is to see specialists. I have Kaiser right now cuz it's cheap, but I teach at UCD, so I already know that in a few years I'm switching to the UC plan so that I can get the best healthcare possible once all my future ailments start kicking in!
Good luck, and let us know how it goes.
