2 Questions: Cannabis Oil treatment & Has your diet changed?

Forums General Melanoma Community 2 Questions: Cannabis Oil treatment & Has your diet changed?

  • Post

So, I am wondering if any of you know of anyone who has used cannabis oil for treatment. Would love to hear feedback. My cousin's mother in law had an inoperable brain tumor & was given 6 months to live. She got on this cannabis oil and in 5 months the whole thing is gone. The doctors are amazed. (I have the pictures) I do realize that many of us can not even get our hands on this oil & I really wish that would change.

Have you changed your diet & if so, to what & what improvements have you seen in your health? For me, I am trying to buy more organic, GMO free foods as well as grass fed pastured type meat. I recently started adding gelatin (Great Lakes brand) as well as magnesium into my diet. I am feeling a bit of difference with this and sleeping better.

I try to follow a plant-based diet, as much as possible (no dairy, no beef, no fish, no foul); lots of fruits, vegetables, grains, beans and nuts.  I also buy organic, when it's available.  I like ice cream, cream based soups, and steak, so I do "cheat" occassionally, especially when I travel, or when I'm feeling down and want a treat.  I would stay away from gelatin, because it's made from animal hooves.  And I take vegan supplements, when available. No herbal supplements though, because they can adversely affect the liver, and I've just been diagnosed with liver disease.  I feel better on plant-based diet, and I lost about 12 lbs. when I started following it, but it hasn't helped the chronic pain I experience from Sjögren's Syndrome (an autoimmune disease) and fibromyalgia.

DianaD, thanks much. I really appreciate you sharing. I used to be vegan a long time ago, but, found for me…I need some quality sourced animal protein. The gelatin I take is not that Knox brand at the store, I take Great Lakes gelatin made from grassfed pastured animals (4 1/2 star ratings on amazon) I'm still on the mend from a wicked case of sciatica and this & the magnesium has helped (along with extra strength Curamin for pain) Perhaps that might help with your pain? I'm trying to also learn more about an anti-imflammatory type diet (no wheat, certain grains, etc).

I would like to get back into juicing again (my body has a hard time digesting raw spinach, kale, etc….I believe it might have something to do with the oxylates)

Instead of juicing, you could lightly steam or sauté the spinach, kale, etc.  The cooking makes it more easy to digest, but you retain fiber that will be lost in juicing.  And eating the whole food is more filling, too.

Hello Cindy – I do not have personal experience with cannabis oil but I know others on this forum have (at least they used to check in).

I have radically changed my diet and am taking lots of supplements.  I am working under the advice of an alternative doctor (Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez originally, but he passed away recently so I will be seeing his colleague, Dr. Linda Isaacs going forward).  Dr. G. had me focusing on "real" food (nothing processed) such as wild-caught fish, grass-fed beef, pastured eggs, organic produce, etc.  50% cooked food and 50% raw (to get enzymes destroyed by cooking).  Two freshly prepared carrot juices each day.  And some sort of animal protein at least once a day.  It's all a bit more detailed than that but those are the broad strokes.  I can't say whether any of this has had an impact on the cancer at this point, but the rest of me feels better than ever.

                    Good luck to you!

Hi Maggie, so good to know there are some folks on here that have used the cannabis oil. I hope they can share their experience. I like the sounds of the diet you are on….I eat a lot of salmon, avocado, garlic and grass fed beef—some chicken (but dang that pastured chicken is cha-ching! lol So, I opt for organic/gmo free when possible)

Are you eating grains? Curious to know!

Thanks for the well wishes 🙂

                          Hi Cindy,

You can do a search on user GAngel .  Her husband, Rudy, uses cannabis oil (I believe he grows and makes his own – you never know what kind of chemicals and pesticides might be in it otherwise).  I haven't seen a post from either of them in a while but I believe they were going to take a break and just enjoy life being NED for a while.  He was using conventional medicine in addition to the cannabis oil so no telling what exactly was working for him.

As for grains, my doc said they were perfecty fine to eat as long as they were organic and ideally, sprouted to deactivate the anti-nutrients.  However, I seem to have allergy issues so I am mostly avoiding them.  I just feel better without them.  But I'll run that past Dr. Isaacs when I see her later this month as one of the "prescribed" foods I am to eat a few times a week is a raw 11-grain cereal (it makes my nose run so I stopped eating it).  I truly felt my best when I followed a Paleo diet (lots of avocado oil, spaghetti squash, and animal protein).

The doc said I should avoid most leafy greens except spinach.  So I make a spinach salad most days.  And I should eat at least 4 different vegetables every day (can be the same 4) plus a clove of garlic daily.  Broccoli and cruciferous vegetables (including kale) are good for me EXCEPT they MUST be COOKED (steamed ideally) otherwise they can compromise the thyroid.  I am also to eat 10 raw (unpasteurized) almonds at breakfast and lunch.  These are hard to find as the "raw" almonds in the store have all been pasteurized (2004 salmonella outbreak) but you can order directly from the grower (Anderson Almonds) or from Spain (via Amazon) to get truly raw almonds.  No sugar.  Only sweeteners allowed are whole fruit, organic maple syrup, organic raw honey or organic molasses.

OK, sorry, I'm sure that's too much information.  And it's only one doctor's opinion.  I don't know if its helping with the cancer, but I know its not bad for me.

Yeah, pastured chicken is pricey.  Organic chicken is fed corn which is not their natural diet but is definitely better than conventionally farmed chicken.

Off to get ready for my sister's wedding!  Take care!

My 18yr old son does a ton of natural therapy along w conventional. I have come to believe everyone has a unique journey fighting this crazy beast! It's so good to hear how others are approaching it. It's also just helpful to know we are not alone with all these changes and decisions!

He eats whole foods. He eats raw, unpasteurized almonds etc. I buy eggs from my friend and goat milk and goat milk soaps and lotions she makes w very few natural ingredients. He has a special filter on his shower and his drinking water(energized). We had special made cannibus oil but he is young and hates the feeling, we still have it if he changes his mind. For now he uses the cannibus lotion and puts OTC hemp oil in his smoothies. His smoothies have crazy amounts of things to boost him up and fight the cancer. Of course he is 18, but he has a very heavy tumor load including many bone Mets and spine and he is pain free. He plays tennis, soccer, goes camping and is at a Mumford and sons concert today:) He says he has no desire to fight if he can't live!! We also have a laser that he uses regularly.

The changes aren't always convenient, or fun but I think they help your body fight!

                                Keep it up:)

Medical marijuana is legal in Michigan, and I tried it, in the hopes that it would help me sleep.  It didn't help with sleep, but I was surprised that it relieved my back pain for about six hours, and more effectively than any prescription or over-the-counter meds that I've taken (I've refused to take narcotics).  I didn't like the woozy feeling, the loss of balance, or the really bad case of the munchies that it gave me, but I will reserve it's use, in case I need it for pain management.

Sorry for the multiple posts, but you may be intereested in the form of medical marijuana that I tried: it was a liquid/gel that I could squirt on food or into a drink.  I read that orally ingested marijuana take two to three hours to feel the effect (that's exactly what happened with me), and its effects last longer, than when smoked.  If you ingest it orally, it's processed by the liver; if you smoke it, it crosses the blood/brain barrier, and you feel the effects almost immediately, but the effects wear off much more quickly, too.  Also, when you ingest it orally, the THC is stored in your fat cells, and it takes your body about 30 days to eliminate the THC.

In 2 years on this forum, I've never seen anything compelling on diet (other than the obvious) or cannabis oil (other than Gina's story, which also involved the concurrent use of BRAF-MEK).  I'm not a prude and if I thought c-oil would help, I'd get it.  If you're Stage 1, etc., none of this really matters.  For Stage 4, however, I would say that it is important to eat protein every single day, e.g., fresh fish, organic eggs, grass-fed meats.  Your body needs the nutrients that healthy animal-based proteins provide.  Pursue a vegan diet when you're NED.

We can get all of  our protein needs met by eating a variety of fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes (beans) and nuts.  The typical Western diet that most Americans eat contains way too much protein, and studies have shown that animal protein is correlated with the "typical" Western diseases: cancer, heart disease, diabetes, etc.

One should do what one thinks best for oneself, but consuming animal protein is not necessary for a healthy diet and even contradicts it.

My cousin's mother in law was given 6 months to live…inoperable brain tumor. Started the cannabis oil & at 5 months the tumor is gone. I'm sure it varies from person to person. I just wish it was easier to get a hold of as it certainly won't do any harm, especially compared to some of the options given to us at the hospital, etc.
