Hi there,
firstly, thank you to anyone reading this..
For the past 5 months I have had a continuously growing mole on my arm. It has forever been a pin prick of a flat mole but in April it raised and grew very quickly, it then went pitch black and after two weeks returned to normal colour and has got higher and wider. It is only 5m wide and 2m high but I have never had a mole change like this and I have a lot of moles.
i got referred to the hospital over three months ago, although they firstly lost the referral, then after sending a second one they put me under a non-urgent as it doesn't have an irregular border.
in the period of the three month wait the mole has changed a lot. It's tiny (less than 1cm) which is why they are not taking it seriously, but I know myself, and I really don't think it's good.
I'm going to another doctor tomorrow morning and all I want is for them to just cut it out.
my question to you is, if it is nodular melanoma and had been growing for six months, could it be life threatening? I also have a lump on my head and two rIsed solid lymph nodes which I've been told via a ultrasound scan is nothing.
I would be greatful for any advice as you certainly seem to know more than any GP I've seen.
sorry for the post being so long. And thank you very much for any answers received.

With all the changes and the swollen lymph nodes i believe i'd find a derm instead of trusting a GP and hopefully it will be tested and if positive, please find a melanoma specialist. It may be small on the outside but you need to know if it's deep or not..My personal opionion on the ultrasound vs biospy on the lymph node is that there could be small melanoma cells involved that the ultrasound might not pick up..Good luck..I'm Stage 3 C..Still learning myself.

Hi Ginger,
thank you for your reply. I'm so sorry to hear your prognosis – I hope you are benefiting from the advance and new treatments like so many on here?
thank you for your reassurance that I am not nuts to link the two, or to persist in getting it seen to. I recently asked for a biopsy on the lymph nodes after the second solid one came up in a year and put me in hospital because it was so big, but I was told I would have to wait for more scans to be completed.
i wouldn't have even thought about a dermatologist, therefore if I am told to wait longer for a referral after my appointment tomorrow I shall go in search of a dermo ASAP!
I feel like such a hypercondriac even thinking the worst but I have over 200 moles, I'm 29 and I have never had a mole behave so strangely or grow so rapidly.
My main worry is that because it is a fast growing cancer, the delays because of their niavity might have cost me and that's what scaring me the most. On the flip side it could be nothing and I am overreacting.
thank you so much for all your advice and I truly wish you the best!!!

I had a mole that was growing and ignored it. I finially got a biopsy and had it removed it was Stage 2 melanoma. after 3 1/2 years I was having trouble with movement on the left side of mu body, my wife took me to the emergency room where we found out that the melanoma had spread to my brain (14 tumors) and my lungs (3 tumors). Metatastic melanoma!
I had to have 2 crainiomonys, 2 gamma knife procedures, and 4 infusions.
Don't wait get it checked and removed!

Thank you for your advice!
how are you now jack?
i've just been to the doctors and been urgently referred to hospital – which I am on my way to now.
I just feel like this is different. I guess I shall know by the end of the day and if it is anything I will be furious after being ignored for six months. Parents and grandparents had cancer, I'm hoping I'm an exception to the rule… I shall keep you updated.
