Ct resluts so no growths!! Mri next month will show how the brain and spine mets are doing. Finally heard back about the three biopsies i had almost two weeks ago. One is a normal mole the second is mildly atypical, excision scheduled in June and the third on my melanoma scar is moderately atypical so excision also scheduled for June.
Oddly enough though my platelets and white cells are strangely low so i can not start my next cycle of temodar, which should have started tonight, until my counts are back up. Hopefully that will be soon!
Keep your chins up everyone!!
Best wishes

I've had numerous mildly atypical, and they've never gone back and excised more with those. Should I be concerned about that?

Maybe it would depend on your history? Or maybe the margins were clear after your biopsy? I would definitely ask the dermatologist or your melanoma specialist if thats who you see. Ive learned you really cant ask too many questions. Its not a huge excision at all, maybe 2 inches at most done with a local in the dermatologists office. I know with aytpical they are not cancer but definitely have the ability to become cancer if the circumstances are right and i would think that if they didnt get it all that the leftovers could still change. This will be my 4th and 5th little excision for aytpical moles.
Good Luck!

Mildly atypical are basically considered benign. My doc prefers getting clean margins, but that is not a universal opinion. Many docs are fine not getting clear margins on mildly atypical lesions. There is no consensus of opinion on that one. I wouldn't worry about yours at all. The key to watch for in any mole removal is pigment regrowth. If one of your lesions started to grow back in the scar, I'd ask for a complete removal.
