So my dad got very bad news today….Pembro failed after three doses and it has spread to spine and gotten worse in brain. Doctor doesn't think Pembro will do anymore good, and it's having a bad effect on his body. He didn't even recommend chemo, we are devastated and we don't what to do. Palliative care I guess and make his last few months a joyful one.

i hate this disease I hate it so much but we must continue to fight it and keep up the research

          Hi ,

sorry you are dealing with this it's horrible disease. I looked at your profile you live in uk.

Has your dad not been offered ippi or nivola or combo both together. May I ask how old your dad is . His your dad having bad side effects to drug or just not well in himself

i do recall everyone response to keydruda has been different in how many doses they have before takes effect. I am sure others on it will give you more feedback on that.

what has your consultant said regarding treatment offers.

Consider continuing on Pembro despite the early failure.  Or switch to the sister drug, Nivolumab and/or in combo with iplumumab.  There are many cases of initial increased tumor activity or inflammation followed by regression.  Radiation treatment added to the immunotherapy may also give an added boost due to the now proven "abscopal effect".  I am a "late bloomer" who resisted all the immunotherapy treatments until being on the ipi/nivo combo and adding radiation.  I have finally gotten at least a partial response.  Since you are only considering palliative care at this point, one more aggressive round of treatment seems like worth trying unless side-effects diminish quality of life considerably.  Best to your and your family at a difficult time.

My name is Laurie my fiancée was diagnosed with malignant melanoma 2 weeks ago he has been coughing up blood for 2 months now finally was sent to a cardio thoracic surgery center a week ago. Now this specialist is putting Keith through everything his regular Dr. Did because he wasn't satisfied with the other Dr. Results he goes for a pet scan on March4 and another biopsy on March 7 and we realize time is of the essence. It saddens me very much to think of life without him and I'm always researching things about malignant melanoma metastasis. I feel they should have already done something for him. Can anyone please tell me what to do he has a malignant tumor composed of nested proliferation of atypical cells with epitheloid appearance and nests present in the overlying epithelium with mitotic activity. And they said it was either metastatic or arising at this site. Can someone please tell me were else we could go and who the best surgeons are for this and what to expect because I see a difference in him every day and I feel the dr. Should be ding more. Thanks to everyone and prayers for all Laurie
