Hi all –
Last week I had a shave biopsy on a new, black raised mole that appeared about six weeks ago and double in size and also darkened.
Today, I started itching near the biopsy site. I assumed it was part of the normal itching process. I just checked it out – I have a new, black spot developing about 2 inches from the biopsy site. It is about the size of a pin head, and very itchy. (The biopsy wasnt itching – the new spot was!)
i called the derm office to see what they thought – they are supposed to get back to me on whether they want me to come in, or wait for the path results.
Background – I am 25 years old, dark complextion/eyes/hair, but am I sun worshipper. I have a few freckles on my arms/hands, no moles expect for these two recent new ones. They are located on my upper arm, near my shoulder. I have not been smart about sunscreen, I love tanning oils, and have been an avid indoor tanner for several years. (Bad! But this has been a huge wakeup call!)
Anyone else experience similar "symptoms" – or should I not be concerened?

I would wait for the pathology report. If it is melanoma or even atypical nevus, then they'll take more skin and tissue around your biopsy area which will get rid of that new spot. Until you know what it is, there isn't much you can do. Hang in there.
