      I know lots of folks didn't know they had brain mets until a scan showed them.  

      For other folks – just curious as to what type of symptoms they had before they showed up on a scan.

          Headaches, nausea, pressure from inside the head, visual disturbances are all common but can have many other causes as well.

                Dave had no symptoms, but a scan revealed 7 very small lesions.  He did gamma knife for those.  When they came back, I knew because he would get really confused when he first woke up in the morning.  He wouldn't make any sense for at least an hour.  But he never got any of the symptoms that they told him to watch for.

                      Sometimes the symptoms of a brain met can be very similar to a stroke. And like a stroke, different symptoms are associated with damage to different parts of the brain. My brother experienced numbness and lack of fine motor control in his right hand (he couldn't shave, for example) and then he discovered that he couldn't talk coherently (speech aphasia). It turns out that these symptoms were caused by a met in the left parietal region of the brain.
