Specifically imatinib holds promise -here are 5 trials using it
1.
Phase: Phase II
Type: Biomarker/Laboratory analysis, Treatment
Status: Active
Age: 18 and over
Sponsor: NCI
Protocol IDs: MSKCC-07014, 7754, 07-014, NCT00470470
2.
Phase: Phase II
Type: Treatment
Status: Active
Age: 18 and over
Sponsor: Other
Protocol IDs: 08-244, DUS11T, NCT00788775
3.

There are several trials currently in progress to determine which of the C-kit drugs works best on which Exon mutation. All reports that I have found so far state that Gleevec has shown the best results for exon 11 DNA mutations.
I have been essentially stable on Gleevec since March 2009. My melanoma had been going wild for the three months before that.
I would be happy to discuss my c-kit experiences with you. Let me know what you would like. We can email, chat or talk telephonically.
