I’m obsessing with a mole on my lower leg that it might be a nodular melanoma. It’s very dark but small. I saw it back in September and actually didn’t change in size, shape or apperance since then. My question is could it be a nodular melanoma even if it’s stable and didn’t change in the last six months?? Is the biospy necessary?

Get it checked out, preferably by a dermatologist and not your family practice doctor. My primary was on my back. My wife, who is an RN, kept telling me to get it looked at, and my PCP told me it wasn't anything to worry about. When it got bigger he offered to take it off, still thinking it was nothing. He was surprised when it came back as melanoma. You just can't be too careful, so you really should let a dermatologist have a look.

If it is new, as in it hasn't been on your leg most of your life, and it looks different from other moles you have, then get it checked out. Anything that gives you that question in your mind, get it checked out by a dermatologist.

Not at all. There are other lesions that can show up and look different and NOT be cancerous. Try not to worry, it’s just best to get it checked out.
