Okay, so to beging with I would like to say that 6 months ago I got a mole cut out because it was raised, big and peeling off. Result came as dysplastic nevi with proliferation(borderline thing, not enough to be called melanoma in situ, but not just atypical mole). I got re-exision, margins clear and having my check ups.
I am fair-skinned, but I don`t have that many moles. I have only one mole left up to 1 cm and the other one got removed.

So i have that 1 mole left on my tummy that is being watched by 2 docs: private dermatologist(who worked in big dermatoonkology hospital before) and dermato-oncologyst.  I have had it all my life, both doctors describe it as typical atypical nevus: up to 1 cm, brown colour, darker brown raised central papule. They have checked it 6 months ago 2 times(as i was very panicked) and month ago private derm said it is completely calm and no changes, dermato-oncologyst didn`t even pay much attention to it, only when student that was with us pointed out at this mole he said "No worries this is regular atypical nevus, lets just keep watching it".

But 2 weeks ago I became stuck on that mole, I was checking it everyday, rubbing it, stretching and touching papule all the time. Once I even rubbed it with napkin and here we go some mini dots appered on the top that were just dry. After that I started using moisturiser all the time and in few days those dry dot flaked off with shower. Now after 2 weeks it is almost back go normal and the papule is only getting more dry if in cold place. But you don`t feel it while touching, it is very soft. You can see it only in specific light that there is one tiny flake left that is smaller than 1 mm. It didn`t change size, colour, surface(anymore after that) and I am going tomorrow to doc to have it removed as i almost didn`t sleep and eat those days.

Janner, tell me please is it now this way that any changing mole after bad experience will now mean that it is turning? Is there at least one chance that it is just coinsidence that second mole got irritated? I am very scared for everything right now and wanted to know if all changing moles are dangerous and if this can be considered as one of the changes that you always mention to watch for?
And also docs checked me just 1 month ago and one of them sees melanoma patients everyday and he didn`t even get worried about the mole, is it normal?

      thank you

It sounds like everyone thinks this is a normal mole but you have become obsessed with it.  When you watch for change, you do that MONTHLY, not daily.  You use photos and you don't pick at it.  You need time to see differences.  Playing with this every day is not helpful and just feeds your obsession.  Changing moles that are really changing (and not just irritated) don't have to be melanoma.  In fact, I've had several changing moles that were just atypical.  But they definitely rate higher on the concern factor which is why you bring them to your derm's attention.  In this situation, I doubt your fears will be realized and this is just a basic mole or maybe a little atypical.  CHECK MONTHLY, not daily, and leave things alone.  Picking and prodding may cause more harm than good.  And remember, you'll be fine.  Also remember the one doc sees melanoma daily and YOU don't.  That's kind of why you go to experts, for their expertise.  My changing moles were significant, not microscopic tiny variations.

Thank you so much for your response.
I will try to keep it calm for today.

So you had a significant change? Not similar to irritaion but like CHANGE and it was for several months?
My mole feels and looks now normal. Just because it is cold ouside when I come in after walking in the street it is sometimes looks like central papule became little dry, but then it is normal after shower or after i stay in warmth.

Yesterday I found another small raised mole on my neck the surface of which looks similar dry and had small piece of skin if you rub it.
But I am still really scared.

Can atypical moles just change but in benign way?Or if it is about changing big dysplastic nevus – it is always bad?

              thank you in advance again

I think you are letting your imagination run away with you.  TAKE PHOTOS.  COMPARE THEM MONTHLY against your skin.  Do it in the same light — say right after a shower so your conditions are consistent.  Your skin is a living and breathing organ and if you get cold or the air is dry or whatever, the mole may look a little different.  That isn't the same as:  Is the mole bigger in size?  Is another color growing and encroaching on the mole?  Are the borders expanding non-symmetrically.  Does it look different or similar to all your other moles?  These are the changes we look for.

My mole has been with me since childhood and as far as I remember it has always been same size, didn`t grow or change lately. I think it was always darker and raised in the center. At least last 5 years that i started paying attention to it.
It doesn`t grow, have extra colours or become weird to touch. It is soft and almost flat, except for the middle part. 1cmX8mm.

Just few weeks ago I payed attention that after temperature dropped my skin became more dry and this mole looks not so shiny anymore if i don`t use cream or oil.
But not all the time, when I feel the whole skin dry. I am not sure if it is normal or not.
I went on Friday to do digital dermascopy that enlarged this mole a lot and doc said it looked absolutely fine and the dar central part was not so dark after zoomin, just a little more deep brown.
But I am still concearned. Is digital dermoscopy good for finding early melanoma?
Can this change be irritation. After my borderline mole I can`t look normaly anymore at flaky moles.

Am I overreacting? Really scared for my biopsy to be taken this wednesday/

I know it turns into obsession, but now I was checking raised part of the mole with a flashlight and I saw there many small hairs and also I noticed a tiny micro hair growing from that exact dot, where I can see flaking when dry.

can hair follicle be the irritation reason or am I just trying to calm myself down?
