Hello All – my husband Charles is on Day 4 of the BRAF combo Debrafenib + MEK……so far so good. He is tired but the stress of getting into a new routine with taking the drug/eating and a little waiting for the "side effect shoe to drop" could also be a cause of fatigue.
For those that took this combo……..how long after you started it did you start to see, if any, side effects?? Thanks – here is hoping that he is part of the happy camp with great success and little toxicity.
Hope everyone is doing well,
Rita

I think it was within the first few days I started having the fevers. It is kind of hard to remember. I was on them 2 weeks then had to go off for about 2 weeks for radiation then on another 6 week for scan. Then another few weeks until I could get on pd1. Right before the scan for about 3 days was the worse side affects.
it was actually after the radiation and I went back on them the fevers got the most. Twice a day usually 103. Fortunately Tylenol eventually brought the fevers down.

I have been on the combo now for a couple months and have not really noted anything in regards of side effects. Tiredeness has been part of life for the past few years since hitting stage IV and having the various treatments. As is noted a lot, and is absolutely true, symptoms do vary from person to person as well as success of the various treatments. Artie is definitely one who has been through a lot of them and gives great thoughts and advice. Pray that it does work for you, So far the early results are positive for me. The biggest headache is the schedule of food, no food, drugs. It was easier for me to take the Zelboraf when I did for the simple fact I just had to eat food with them, and I do like to eat
Pray that all will work out successfully for you.

Thanks Clay – it is a little "routine building" exercise, but if it works?? I'd say we can manage a moving dinner time:) So far just tired, so we'll see…..I hope that it works for both YOU and Charles 🙂 Take care,

Thanks Artie – always great insight from you! I hope you are doing well – I was thinking about something that you said about a hotel in Maryland. I work in hotels, and I can't imagine if we had a guest that needed a recliner we couldn't assist – there are oodles of rentals, etc. I hope that you finally found a place to call a "home" while in treatment.

Yes I did. I found a company that delivers medical beds, recliners and things directly to the hotels.

My bad days seemed to be related to too much exertion and not hydrating enough. Otherwise I have been very lucky with no rashes, lesions, or toxicity concerns.
Hope your husband has a long and prosperous time on this combo.

My husband has been on the combo for 2 months now and he is doing great. The first two weeks he had slight low grade fevers, but after that not a single side effect noted!! His labs are perfect, his vitals are all within normal limits and no toxicity found
. ( I am an RN so I check vitals and symptoms daily.) He is practically back to his normal self and hasn't felt this good in months! We are very hopeful and optimistic that this is all a very good sign. He will have another scan in Sept. I am praying it is what we are hoping for!
