Hi Y'all, well, i saw my Oncologist yesterday and i came to the decision {with her as well} to just do the damn surgery. Like ive stated in my introductory post when i first knocked on your door here at MRF, I was {and still am} so done with surgeries! my original personal plan was to do something different {Chemical Therapy, Imm Therapy etc. cuz obviously surgeries arnt doing the trick {tumors come back every 2 years on average} so, i thought do that. Then my last surgery point "opened up" my left leg shin area {i squatted down & it tore open} and just that alone would delay any therapy for atleast another month. So, i said screw it! this way the tumor is  taken out in a matter of "hours" versus a possible year with  Chemo/Imm approach. And of course the added benifit of knowing "exactly" what it is & what where up against if therapy "is" still needed {most likely}…i dread the surgery I really do! and thats what my whole fuss has been about!i would have already started Interferon or whatever if it wernt for tearing open my leg! maybe a sign from God? ya never know…Thanks for allowing me to share my update w/you and hope yer all doing good or atleast stable..love/respects Mike,,yes

Hey Mike – I have been following your posts so forgive me if I missed something.  Did you have a biopsy to determine if these spots are indeed melanoma?

btw – my husband has had 2 thoracic surgeries.  They were able to go right between the ribs and resect.  He had 1 night in the hospital and about a 2 week recover.  I'm sure everyone is different and it depends on 'where' the nodule is locate.

Wishing you the best of luck for a successful surgery and a quick recovery.

Hi Julie, sorry for the long stretch since ive been on @ MRF, Iv been beatin around the bush here for the past few weeks, but, iv set a date to call my Surgeon to schedule the darn thing. Like ive said, im so done with surgeries and now that it has "possibly" moved to my lungs, that type of surgery gives me the chills! im glad to hear yer hubby only spent a night in the hospital, thats what my surgeon basiclly said. Its just the whole thing has me overwhelmed. To answer yer question, "no", there wasnt a Biopsy to determin "if" its Melanoma, my scan lit it up, its round shaped like most Melonoma tumors, my surgeon said its unlikely the type of lung tumors hes use to seeing, hes 90% sure its Melanoma.Either way he says, its gotta come out. I picked Sept 29th to get things going cuz that is my Dads birthday {he passed in 1993} and i cant back out! i want to just run and hide. I know alotta you are like "What The Heck!?" why is he procrastinating?!!..Im scared and thats all there is to it! sue me..lol…take care you guys, ands ill keep ya posted & check in before my surgery and after of course…Mike

I'm glad for your sake that it's surgery instead of interferon – I can't believe they still want to use that anywhere!!! Best of luck with the op, I hope it goes easy for you and that you heal up fast!!

100% agree on interferon. It was the WORST treatment and its benefit numbers are horrible
