      Folks!

any thoughts on clinical trials ?

      – How can you find one?

      – Should be worried about joining one?

      Anyone joined a CT before?

      Thanks

I am on a clinical trial, ipi vs interferon. I knew what hospital I wanted to be treated at from the beginning and they have some melanoma onc so I went to their website and searched what trials they had and this was the best at the time so it all worked out. Also clinicaltrials.gov has nationwide. Im very glad Im in a trial because im followed much closer and get scanned often. Plus they have a person that goes to each appt with you and are there every step of the way, documenting for the trial. My mom had one in her trial that was so sweet and caring and made the whole thing easier. My experience was the same. One little email, fast response and all questions asked, problems solved.

Quite a few of the members of the board are in a clinical trial.

Your best way to find a clinical trial is to go to clinicaltrials.gov.  If you type in melanoma in the seach window you'll find over 600 open trials.  It can be a little overwhelming.  You can narrow it down a little if for example you want to look for a trial with nivolumab.  Type in the window "melanoma" and "nivoulumab".

There is a map option where you can select a certain state and it will show all the melanoma trials in that particular state.

Many of the trials listed have a point of contact at the bottom for the trial.  Some have a POC for each location where the trial is recruiting.

Almost every major research hospital has a clinical trial website.  If there is one near you google the name of the hospital and clinical trials.  You can then search that particular place for their trials.

It's not an easy process but can definitely be worth the effort.
