Hi there,
I'm new here but found this forum based off a google search. I just had a mole biopsied that had definetely changed, it used to look like a very small circle and now (to me) looks like a dysplastic atypical mole about the size (maybe a little smaller) of a pencil eraser. I'm so mad at myself because looking back at pictures it appears the mole had actually changed at least 2 years ago. I'm so worried waiting for this biopsy that if it is something I totally dropped the ball on this.
Just curious if anyone had a changed mole, or waited as long as I did to notice, and have it be harmless? The waiting for my results is driving me to insanity.
Much appreciated!!

Yes! Twice. Which makes deciding when to point out changes to doctors difficult. Maybe a third on Thursday. Will leave the biopsy decision to doc after she looks at my MoleScope pics.

I've been researching a lot over the internet about this topic since I was concerned about a mole I found on my body. I found a study in which it was stated that roughly 80% of moles which are noticed to be changing by a person came back as benign by pathology report. I also read that sinificant portion of dysplastic moles change over the years in a benign pattern. So even if a mole changes there is still much higher possibility that it's benign rather than malignant. Concerning would be if a mole is changing in an assymetrical pattern, increasing the color variation, etc.
Recently I had a suspucious mole removed which had all of the ABCD signs of melanoma and the pathology report came back as benign compound nevus with no signs of atypia.. so it wasn't even an atypical mole which means that I worried too much over a completely normal thing.-

Thank you SO much for this response. Alls I was seeing that "change is bad",so it's great to hear that this can be normal. I'm hoping to hear back today. Glad to hear yours came back completely benign. Hopefully I will also be worrying over something that's completely normal!

Wow – just got a phone call – completely benign dysplastic nevus. This thing was about as atypical as you can get (and it used to look like a freckle). So thankful!!!
