      Hello again,

i had a WLE under local anesthesia a couple weeks ago.  I since developed a hematoma at the site of the incision along with blood/bruising in my abdomen from the internal bleeding.  My stitches are out and I'm still bleeding and swollen and am wondering if this is normal.  The doctor (a melanoma specialist) didn't think much of it, but I'm questioning why I shouldn't have this drained.

      Cheers

      jay

          Hi Jay,

How do you know it is a hematoma ? Other possibilities include seroma- bodies love to fill voids- or a lymphocele- lymph fluid leaking in tothe void.

They usually advise compression as drainage risks introducing infection and the void refills Compression shorts maybe ?

Is the wound actually bleeding ? Not really that clear on exactly what is happening or if you had a sentinel lymph node biopsy at the same time ? Stitches are out- has the wound reopened ? Easier to give an answer witha bit more detail. Hope you are healing well by now..
