I was just diagnosed. Dermatologist excised. It was 4mm, which I understand is relatively large. Have been referred to a Surgical Oncologist. I expect discussion/suggestion of SLNB. How soon should this be done? What is the typical wait for such a test?

It depends, obviously. I'm waiting on my SNLB right now. My estimated depth was 0.8 mm but they didn't get clean margins in any direction so I was referred out.
I had the original skin biopsy on Dec 21. Dermatologist contacted me with the pathology results on the 30th. The surgeon's office called me the 5th with an appt time. I saw the surgeon this Tuesday and next Friday, the 22nd, is when the WLE and SNLB are going to happen. So for me, the time from original biopsy to surgery is going to be a month.
I don't know if this is a normal timeline or not, but I hope it helps.

Ultimately I guess it's going to depend on your surgeons schedule. From what I can tell it looks like most of us on average wait somewhere around 4-6 weeks from diagnosis until slnb and wle are performed. In my case I visited my derm Nov 30th. The diagnosis was made by Dec 7th. I had my initial meeting with my surgeon Dec 11 and it was then over a month before my surgery. I had my slnb and wle Jan 13th. I'm now again playing the waiting game to hear the results from that.
