Ipi Question

All, I had my first infusion of ipi on Monday–4 days ago.  Since then I've had a bit of stomach "churning" after meals, along with gasiness and a bloated feeling–often lasting for several hours.  So far, my bowel movement are normal.  Is all of this normal or a precursor to the tough GI issues I read about on this site?

That is exactly how my husband described it….we would laugh at his gurgling stomach.  It continued the entire time he did ipi, but never got any worse.  We always joked that it was his body eating up the cancer.  Just an FYI, the ipi worked, he had no other side effects other than lethargy, and he's still here (2 1/2 years later).  Best of luck to you.

So glad to hear that you had such a good response to Ipi.  My husband had his first infusion this past Tuesday and so far no problems.  We did hear a little stomach grumbling last night.  I will now think of it as killing the cancer cells.  When did his lethargy begin while taking the treatments or after?  Has he had no other type of treatments since taking Ipi?

My husband has external melanoma on his scalp (multiple spots) and he is Stage III unresectable.  Did your husbands rumors shrink or completely go away?

Lethargy started before the 2nd dose…not horrible, but for a couple after each treatment, he was really tired.  Ipi shrunk his 2 tumors (heart and gi tract) almost immediately.  He progressed after 4 months and has been on Zelboraf for just over 2 years and after dealing with a huge brain met, has been more-or-less NED since then.  The doctors believe it's a combination of ipi and Zelboraf keeping him stable at this point.
