I was taking Paxil and discontinued taking it around the time the pimple/mole was developed on my head. IN the Spring I decided to discontinue taking my Paxil medication because I felt I could handle the stress on my own. I was instructed to cut my dose in half for the first week and then discontinue totally the next week. I started feeling what I call "electrical shortages" so I actually took 3 weeks to get off of it insead. I read that coming off that medication could cause those symptoms on their website, so I didnt think anything of it. I developed that mole/pimple in July/August. I seen my dermatologist in October because the mole began to change and turn black and was diagnosed with melanoma. I had two surgeries to have it all removed. I was recently told that I have the BRAF 600 mutation and that interferes with the way my DNA is copied. I dont really understand the process but from what I read it sounds like these anit-depressant medications interfere with your serotonin level and some how affect the way your body copies its DNA. I am wondering if that has anything to do with the A and T nucleotides not being transcribed properly in our gene mutation. Any thoughts?
