My boyfriend is supposed to start a BMS Clincal Trail.  They need to test for PD-L1 biomarker.  He has now sent two set of tissues over the past 6 weeks to BMS and both times they have come back saying the sample was not sufficient enough to test/analyze for the biomarker.  We are having Moffitt send a third sample out to BMS but I am so worried it will have the same issues.  We are running out of time for him to get into the study since he needs to start within 12 weeks of his last surgery.  Has anyone run into this issue?  Does anyone have any adivice?  Greatly appreciated.

When my Mom was first diagnosed we had issues between the dermatologists office sending slides to the cancer center for testing when we were trying to get her into a trial. The slides were lost and no one could find them. What was left at the lab would not have allowed for testing either.

So, my Mom had to go back to the dermatologists office and get samples taken. I then ended up driving them down to the cancer center once they were prepared. – I didn't trust getting them sent via mail/FedEx again.

It sounds like whoever is taking the samples had no idea how much to gather or maybe has not done this before (i.e. collected for this type of sampling). I would have more samples taken ASAP and find out how much is needed for the testing before hand to make sure that more than enough is taken.

          – You can call the doctors office or lab and find out how much material is left, but I wouldn't chance it.  They likely don't have enough material or a high quality of it now and I wouldn't want to waste any more time tying to use the first samples gathered. Better to start off fresh.

Could you travel and let them take the samples they want?

Each company has their own PD-1 testing protocol. The samples are sent to the pharmaceutical company or one of their labs for testing you can't yet go to a health facility for testing.
