Lump on left temple

      Hi,

I was diagnosed with stage 1a Melanoma in December and had a WLE.  It was located on my upper right back. Tonight I noticed a lump on my left temple, just by my hairline. It is just under my skin, about the size of an m&m. Could this be a swollen lymph node or in any way related to my melanoma?  I am not sure if I am being ridiculous  or reasonable to worry about this.

Would be so grateful for any replies!!

The closest lymph node to the temple is by the ear, there really aren't any lymph nodes right on the temple area. They are located around the ears and down the neck. Just watch it, very likely it is absolutely nothing. If it grows, make an appointment with your doc to have it checked out. Our bodies do all sorts of weird stuff that has nothing to do with melanoma. We have to remember to try and think like we did prior to our melanoma diagnosis: would this have worried you at all before? Most likely it would be something you'd think "hm, that's odd" and you'd wait to see if it goes away, not automatically thinking "melanoma must be involved!". It's normal for us to jump to melanoma conclusions before more logical conclusions, especially soon after being diagnosed. Takes about a year for our brains to go back to somewhere closer to where it used to be (will never be back to our old mindset completely free of melanoma).

Thank you so much for your very reasonable- and very kind reply. You are so right, it is hard not to experience your body, and your health, differently after melanoma.  It really helps to hear that this is a normal reaction. Again I Can't thank you enough for your reply.

I agree the response above. If any pimp to appear then it might be around the ear area first.

Just checking on the lump progress. I have a secondary lump at the same location but with an unknown primary. My doctors find this very unusual.  Of course the temple is the first place to tighten with stress, etc.   Let me know what the results are. Good luck
