Lung mets treatment?

      Greetings, everyone –

I went in for pre-op testing yesterday (EKG, blood work, and chest xray) and will be having wide excision and SNB for 2 primary melanomas on Thursday. This morning, I got a call from my doctor saying they found a spot on my left lung and he wanted me back in today for another xray to make sure it was some kind of shadow or something.

My question is this: is this is a lung met, what are the potential treatment? I am trying to remain hopeful that there was just a problem with the x-ray, but would like to know what I'm up against if this is indeed a lung met.

Any information is appreciated. Thank you.

Sorry you are finding yourself in this situation. First, I would get it biopsied. If it proves to be mets I wound get on Nivo or Keytruda as I have read it works excellent on lung mets. Another option would be to get it surgically remove. Stay positive though. There are numerous reasons to have nodules in lungs that are completely benign.

Keytruda cleared my lung mets right up in a matter of 5 treatments.  The lungs were my first organ to step up and beat cancer on Keytruda.   I just had my 10th treatment this week and it's clearing things up nicely.  Miracle stuff for responders.  Hope you get the same.

Have you "failed" Yervoy yet to be able to take Keytruda?  That's the precursor requirement for insurance- but hopefully not for long.
