Lymphoscintigraphy Prior to SNLD Question

I just received my surgery date for the WLE and SNLD (September 12).  When I spoke to my Dr he indicated that I would be having a lymphoscintigraphy the day of the surgery.  I received a phone call from his surgery coordinator and she indicated that my Dr. ordered a lymphoscintigraphy to be conducted 5-7 days before my surgery (in addition to the one the day of).  I have an appointment with him for a pre-op on Monday (he is out of the country).  Do any of you know the reason for having two of these procedures and why 5-7 days before?  Thanks!

I don't know, I had 2 nodes removed during my WLE surgery and I didn't have anything until the day of surgery. . couple hours before I got the series of shots around the biopsy site and then they took images of where the stuff was draining to, and then that went to the OR so the surgeon knew where to take nodes from.  I didn't have anything 5-7 days before surgery, only the day of.

Yes that is exactly what I was told by my Dr.  Apparently he has since ordered the additional screening.

Mine also occurred the day of surgery a few hours before.  I wonder if this could be a misunderstanding on the part of the coordinator?

Just spoke with the coordinator and there were two orders placed by the Dr.  I am supposed to go in this Friday and then again next Friday before my surgery.  I am waiting for a call from the Dr. or his nurse to explain.  Strange……..

Doesn't really make sense to do the procedure twice at all.  I would definitely ask before having the first one done!!!! Maybe it's actually a different procedure ???  It just seems so unnecessary to do it twice, like taking an X ray of the same bone twice, but I could be wrong!

I had mine the day before surgery.  The radiologist marked spots on my skin with permanent marker so they were still there for the surgery the next day.
