Okay so very random question for you ladies out there -when I get my nails done should I be concerned about putting my fingers under the UV light to dry my nails… aka a no chip mani- I have not done it since getting my diagnoses because I am scared!

They aren't great for us, but the amount of UV they emit is low.

Here is a link to what skin cancer foundation says about them:

They make gloves that cover your hands and fingers and have openings for your nails that you can wear to protect your skin, or the sunscreen option they suggest on the link above is good too. I don't blame you for avoiding them. I personally haven't gotten a gel manicure in a long time because I just didn't want the even tiny bit of risk with them. I have started doing my own nails and I use Revlon's new gel polish line, it works amazingly well for an at home manicure and no UV light needed! The gel top coat is excellent and I use it on non gel polishes and it helps keep them from chipping longer than regular topcoats.

                Hi-

I too have questioned this, and DO wear the gloves that are SPF fabric, Fingertips are exposed just enough for the nail to be manicured…..Would reccommend them..they are available on amazon as well as Coolibar….another company that is 100% sun protective clothing…..

Coolibar has lots of great stuff for sun protection…..hats, lightweight jackets, beach pants, etc….even ARM sleeves for driving…

                Best,
