Hi there. My mother was just diagnosed with Stage 4 melanoma in December 2015. It has spread to her lungs, liver, thyroid and just recently her bones and spine. She has been on the Mekinist and Tafinlar combination for 2 weeks now. I personally haven't seen much of a difference but she said she definitely has. She says she feels more aware. My question to you all is, has anyone been on this combiation of meds and also used the cannabis oil? I have researched the oil itself and it has done some amazing things. I got my hands on some (which is not easy) and my mother is scared to try it that it may interfere with her meds. I'm trying not to give up hope and want her to try anything there is that may help. Can anyone that has experience this please respond and let me know if we should try this or ask the doctor or…? My mother is my very best friend and I'm so scared of losing her. Thank you.

Sorry to hear about your mother's situation. I have experience with Tafinlar and Mekinist (see my prior posts starting around August 2013) if interested–but not with cannabis oil. Gina (who posted under a name like "GAngel" and signed her posts "wife of Rudy") was posting here around the same time I started (August 2013) but I don't recall her posting recently. If you search her posts, you will see that her husband used cannabis oil in combination with BRAF-MEK (not on his onc's advice). I think he eventually got to NED status. Gina's posts always seemed genuine and without an "agenda". I do not recall seeing other posts involving cannabis oil that also seemed genuine (in my opinion). (I don't endorse using cannabis oil–not because there is anything wrong with it, but because I haven't researched it.)

My husband is on MEK/Taf for about 5 mos now, it really amped up his existing critical pain from a previous broken back. His back pain was just excruciating, no mets on MRI – just inflamed joints from existing previous back pain. We live in CA and marijuana is medically legal. We were skeptical, but he did get an oil and puts a drop under his tounge and helps his back pain! He had hand surgery as well that joint didn't fuse and a differing type he rubs on the actual hand and it helps. His oncologist was thrilled that it was taking away Charle's pain – quality of life as you fight this disease is important. It won't cure his cancer, but it helped him handle pain – and that takes less stress off his system.
Not sure this helps, good luck, Rita
