I have melanoma IV, I'm healthy with Keytrudo. I received the 4th doses of Keytrude so far (at 3 weeks). Today, the blood picture showed inflammation, so that oncologist stopped the dose 5. and prescribed antibiotics for 14 days. Is this normal or should I worry?

Hi Sonja,
With that limited information, there is not much I or others here can advise you. Antibiotics treat infection, not inflammation. Perhaps you have an infection that needs treatment with antibiotics as well. However, I would make sure that you really do have an infection that needs treatment with antibiotics. You can simply ask your doc what they are treating. Inflammation is a very common, known side effect from immunotherapy like Keytruda. I'm not sure what your doc is seeing in your "blood picture" so it is hard to know what that means. Most importantly, make sure you are seeing a melanoma specialist, even if it means traveling for your care. I don't know that this is the case with your doc, but some are not well versed on the side effects that can be encountered with immunotherapy. However, some of your issues/questions may be answered with a simple conversation with your doc.
Hope this helps. I wish you my best. Celeste

Thanks Celeste !!! Unfortunately, tumor markers increased by blood count, so the 5th dose was canceled. I was told that some kind of inflammation is somewhere, where I do not exactly know. Until 9.4. they will wait for CT and then decide on. After the 2nd dose of Keytrude, tumor marriages have been drastically reduced. I am abnormally tired, with no energy and strength, and in my joints and muscles, the pains that I am relieving with painkillers. I was told that the pain was not the side effects of Keytrude. I come from Slovenia and Keytruda is not recognized by us in 2016. I hope and I would like CT to be stable so that I can continue with Keytruda. Thanks to everyone, especially Celeste!
