I live in SC but go to Charlotte. Carolina Medical Center and I go to Dr Asmin Amin. I've been going to him for the past 4 years once I went to being stage IV. I also go when needed to Dr. Richard White as a surgeon who specializes in melanoma and breast surgery. Dr Asher is my nuerosurgeon who is also in Charlotte. As a matter affect we drive for everything that I need there. The communication between them has been really great.

My husband also sees Dr. Amin and Dr. White at the Levine Cancer Institute. We are very fond of both. The whole team is top notch. They have referred us to other cancer centers for trials and continue to follow us and stay in touch through the duration of the clinical trials. We consider themn our "home base" Wishing you well, Melissa

One would be hard pressed to find a group better than that at Blumenthal Cancer Center@ Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC.
Responsive to phone calls, e-mails and faxes. Encourage and embrace proactive patients. 24 hour turnaround from scans to patient knowledge of results.
Attentive, quick aand responsive to scheduling matters.
Qualified and compassionate staff able and responsive for not only immediate medical needs; but to assist with insurance, cost, financial ,psyhcological and logistical aspects of cancer. Have a Alternative and Complimentary Group in their system.
Quietly participate in the leading National Clinical Trials, yet have no institutional bias, and happily partner with other Cancer Centers to serve the best interests of the patient.
Heavily partner with NCI, NIH, MD Anderson and Moffitt; yet are open to partnering with local and remote Doctors in order to enhance the best patient outcome.
Have some of the best toys in their labs, scan suites, radiology technology and surgery rooms.
Richard White, a Surgical Oncologist and Chief Surgeon for CMC, has a particular interest in Melanoma because his father died , in the prime of his life due to complications of Melanoma…………….so he totally gets it.
BIAS ALERT: Oh, I do have to add that this bunch has been the team that has kept me alive for the last 17 years since I went to Stage IV.
Cheers,
Charlie S

I am seeing Dr. John Stewart at Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston-Salem. He did my SNLB and removed a cancerous lymph node – great bedside manner, very confident. Just another option to consider.

I have heard a lot of good things about Dr. White and Dr. Amin at CMC Charlotte – I have actually been giving some consideration to switching to them… not because I do not like Dr. Stewart at Baptist, but because of location. I am in Mooresville so if you have some very good melanoma specialists to choose from, why not pick the one closer. 30 minutes versus 1 hour 15 minutes. Alive at stage 4 for 17 years is about as good a testament as it gets.
