      I have two moles on my face that bother me. No derm has ever told me to get them off but everytime I look at them I get anxiety.  I play several outdoor sports and my face is always in the sun and sometimes im not wearing sunscreen so I'm always worried about these two moles going haywire?  I have never had melanoma but did have 1 atypical mole removed years ago and it was the Lowest level.  The one mole is on my temple and I have always had it. It is about 4mm. The other appeared on the bridge of my nose after a golf trip in 2011.  It is dark, tiny,maybe 2mm but shaped like a lightining bolt which I thought was odd but several derms viewed it over the years and said nothinh.   My question is do you think it's prudent to remove these moles and if so what's the best way to minimize scaring ?

                        Thank you, I have pointed the moles out and they always say Nope these are fine.  I'm just curious how painful or disfiguring it would be to have them removed?  They are both flat and not raised.  Would it be better to see a plastic surgeon than a derm?

                              The small one on your nose would leave a barely noticeable scar. As long as they do a punch biopsy and not a shave, but I cannot imagine any derm would do a shave on a face. I've had a punch biopsy on my forehead, it require one little stitch. Now I couldn't even tell you where it was because I can't find a scar. The large one on your temple may leave a bit of a larger scar, but, assuming they'd both get biopsied and come back normal and you wouldn't need extra skin and tissue removed, using a good scar ointment would help it heal and not leave much of a scar. Either way, they'd be very small for just a biopsy, so I wouldn't worry about being disfigured. 

                              Also, if your temple one hasn't changed ever then it shouldn't be of concern. If it starts to change, then get it biopsied. Your newer one on your nose, probably still nothing, but since it is newer and funny shaped, you could find a derm to biopsy just to get that peace of mind.

                                    I'm about to have a mole removed from my face as it is making me very conscious. I hate to see them in the mirror. One of my friends suggested to take the mole removal treatment from a clinic in Toronto. But I am worried if the treatment will result in big scars on my face. Anyway, I'm thinking of consulting the doctor and talk about the procedure. Hope everything goes well.

                                    Please have it checked by another Derm. I had one on my forehead for over twenty years. I was told repeatedly it was just a mole and nothing to worry about.

                                    Well, one day it started bleeding and I was urged to get it seen again. This new DR removed it with a shave and told me it was nothing to worry about. Needless to say it was indeed melanoma and that started a whole new chapter in my life.

                                    Hopefully yours is nothing to worry about, but give yourself some piece of mind and have it biopsied.
