I had a stage 1 melanoma on my neck a month ago.  I had it removed.  I went back for my full body skin check last week, and I had 4 moles removed.  3 were ok, but the 4th said compound proliferation of melanocytes.  Sending on for Myriad Molecular Testing.  Results in 5-7 day.  This one was on my cheek close to my hairline.  This has been a whirlwind of a month for me.  Thanks.

Myriad is a company that has tests for different diseases. Here is a link to their melanoma one:

Could be the pathologist wants a second opinion on that one to know whether it's mel or not. Usually it's best to send second opinion biopsies to a university hospital with excellent dermatopathologists. Companies like Myriad are not typically the favorite. Hope it turns out to be just atypical.

Thank you.  I'm so new to all of this.  And, I honestly thought after I had the stage 1 removed, that would be it.  Now, this has just increased my anxiety.  So hard not to worry.

It definitely brings worry, that's normal. If this one does come back as melanoma, it would not be related to your first one and would likely be early like the one you've already had diagnosed. It's always better to have multiple early stage primaries than one late stage. But, it is also very very likely that it is just an atypical mole, those are much more common than melanoma, even with a melanoma diagnosis already.
