NED…next steps

HI John,

You and I chatted last week in chat. it was so nice to meet you.  I do hope you will come back to chat.  Keep giving it a try.  A lot of people have trouble the first few times either keeping up or being booted.  Remember if you are having trouble following chat just ask if we could slow down a bit or highlight someones name and speak to them directly.  IN fact, you asked meif I was a moderator for chat.  I am not, I was just tryig to keep things as smooth as possible, especially with everyone who was new to chat.  It can be very overhwlmning. 

John, last week it seemed to me you have been through some really rough times and are finally on your way up and ready to get back to the full swing of life. ENJOY!!!!!!! JOhn, the one thing I do every moring and every night is Thank God for all of my blessings, for allowing me to Open my Eyes today… It's a beautiful day. From what I see in your profile you must already do that.  Love from family cannot be measured .

AS far as scans etc.. I am currently NED and have been for 12 years after brain met.  Blessings.  My oncologist had me go for scans and MRI every three months for about four years.  WE then went down to once every six months for about another four years and then down to once a year. When I was 1en years NED he told me I didn't have to go back.  Panic set in an I said NO WAY.  I now see him once a year and would not stop that routine. 

Please make sure you stay vigilant..  I hope other patients will give you some advice as to the regularity in which they proceeded.  Come to chat and ask. If you can't get into chat  e=mail me and I will put it ou to those in the room.  I would ask them each to e mail you or post a reply here.

It's so comforting to be told all is okay.I was congratulated by 3 doctors this summer for reaching a five year mark.

I had only one lymph node affected in 2007.I have done visits and blood work for 5 years and just moved to 6 m0nth visits in 2012. I found a mass in my leg recently and pET scan shows melanoma and few spots lungs and maybe liver.

Should have a plan this week. I am now stage 4 after 5 years of 3 and NED.

I am so thankful there wasn't more found after 5 years.

I am grateful  I had the connection with the center and my oncologist.I was being seen within a few hours after

calling.

I’m stage II and have been NED for 2 1/2 years. I get scans every 6 months. I have gotten the same speech from my onc. He said as long as I want them he will keep ordering scans, at least until the 5 year mark .

Congrats on 2 years.
