      Good afternoon:

I was dx with stage 1b melanoma last June, had a WLE and SNB based on mitioc rate.  Recently I noticed a small red slightly raised spot on my lower back.  It's further down then where the original lesion was so it's not in my scar.  I have a derm appointment in September so I'm going to keep an eye on it to see if it' get's larger.    Could this be melanoma that has spread from the original spot and would it be red?

      Wishing everyone blessings.

Could it be?  Of course.  Anything is possible.  Color is not a reliable indicator of anything either way.  Is it likely?  No.  It's more likely it is just a benign lesion unrelated to any melanoma.  But the ONLY way to know for certain is a biopsy.

Hi – its likely nothing, but with our history none of us can be complacent. September is a long way away for peace of mind. Can you bring that appt forward or go in for a quick interim check? Even a GP/family dr check would be better than nothing.  My view is: guess nothing, check everything and make peace of mind a top priority. If its nothing, you have immediate peace of mind. If its something, you have immediate early detection.
