For any one that hasn't seen the news in melanoma yet today, those that are Braf+ have another option and it looks really good with great overall survival #'s. https://www.onclive.com/web-exclusives/fda-approves-binimetinibencorafenib-for-braf-melanoma

Hey Edster!!
Was just writing a post about this myself. I think this approval is a good thing. But, I fear I am a bit more cynical when I break down the data. My main problem with the data and study is that they compared this combo to vemurafenib alone. We have known for YEARS that any BRAF/MEK combo does better than BRAFi alone!!!!!
Here is the post I put together just now with info from posts I put up in May of 2017 and in March of this year – looking at the Columbus Study:
Again, not saying this is bad news. I'd probably try this combo if I had the need. BUT…just keep'n it 100!!!!
love you. c

I will give you that point on what they compared the two drugs too!!! At least they compared it to something, unlike two of the recent adjuvant trials that compared their drugs to placebo!!! case in point https://www.onclive.com/inside-oncology/fda-approvals/fda-approval-of-adjuvant-dabrafenibtrametinib-in-braf-melanoma and a second example https://www.onclive.com/web-exclusives/fda-accepts-application-for-adjuvant-pembrolizumab-for-stage-iii-melanoma

Yes indeed, Dick!! And such a wonderful inspiration for all of us!!! It is really hard to know what to do in melanoma world. I think it is important to keep up with the general data from large numbers of melanoma peeps in multiple samples as well as the individuals who light the way! Yours, c

Thanks for the info, Ed! Is there any info yet if the new combo will be effective in case that TAF/MEK stops working?
