My Dad was just diagnosed with Melanoma. His breslow depth is 1.1mm on the helix of his ear. Mitotic rate <1mm2. He is 57 years old. He is scheduled for SLNB Jan 2, 2018 and MOHS surgery Jan 10, 2017. Please ask for more information if you need it.
I am wondering if it is a high chance that it spread to his lymph nodes? From what I am reading, it seems like a low chance, but I am just looking for more information, so I know what to expect. Hoping for good news. I know the waiting is hard, just looking for hope.
Thank you

There is certainly a good chance it has not spread to lymph nodes. But, in the event that it has, there are great options for treatment if he were to go that route. For now, take it one step at a time and don't Google too much, lots of outdated info out there that will only cause unnecessary anxiety.
Wishing your dad the best and for negative SLNB results!

Hello,
I was diagnosed with melanoma on my left ear (below the helix) back in Sept. The depth was 1.5mm with a mitotic rate of <2mm2 also. I had a WLE and SLNB on Oct 25, 2017 (10 lymph nodes removed from neck below ear). All lymph nodes were clear of any cancer so I'm suspecting your dad may have the same results. Hope this helps. Gool Luck.
