Hi. I am 32 years old with an 8 week baby girl and 18 month old baby boy. Last Thursday I had a spot on my neck looked at and two doctors said it's very likely to be melanoma. They did a punch biopsy and I have an appt on Thursday to follow up. To say I'm scared is a complete understatement – I'm losing my mind. I'm so scared after looking into the affect the pregnancy could have had on this. It seems that there is mixed info and a lot of different studies but overall there is a link and a bad one at that.
any feedback anyone can share would be appreciated. I'm thinking of calling the doctor today to see if my results are in yet.
what will they be able to tell me from the punch boost results?

I can’t even imagine how scary this must be for you, especially with two small children. But, try not to jump to any conclusions until you have the biopsy results back. Worst case scenario, even if it is melanoma, the early stages are highly treatable and most often curable. When my dad had his biopsy done they did not wait for his follow-up appointment. They call him within a few days urging him to come back in. It was a very serious situation as he was diagnosed with Stage 3C.
Remember though that most cases are caught really early or at least fairly early with high chances of full recovery. And this is if it even is melanoma you have.
Can’t hurt to call over there now and see if they have any results yet. They might, and maybe they are just waiting for Thursday’s appointment to tell you the results.
Please let us know what happens. Positive thoughts to you.

I have been just diagnosed. I have two kids 15 and 11. The only advice I can offer in my brief time with this is try and stay positive and avoid the what if scenarios. I am constantly questioning what if and it gets me nowhere. Stay focussed on the positive things in your life for now.
Take care

I think it is really poor practice to say anything like "it's likely to be melanoma". The only way a doctor really knows is from biopsy results. There have been plenty of ugly melanoma looking lesions biopsied that were not melanoma. I wish doctors wouldn't put that worry onto their patients, it helps no one.
It's always more likely that a spot is not melanoma. Keep that in mind, and try not to worry unless you need to when you get the results.
All the best,

Hi jenn. Thanks for your reply. I have been praying that they are wrong but I have been googling some of the things I heard them say such as seeing a "blue halo" – it seems as if all signs are pointing to terrible news. I can't bring myself to call the office so I might hold off and just see what they say Thursday – I want to know and am so scared to know.
