Hi Joe! I started the ipi/nivo trial at Hopkins in late February. I could only tolerate the one dose of ipi and nivo. I started having fevers, nausea, vomiting, and shortness of breath about 5 days after my first treatment. I had hyperthyroidism, and had to start a med for that plus prednisone. But my tutors started shrinking after that one dose! And once things got back to "normal", I started treatments again, but this time just nivo. And I am still seeing some shrinking tumors!
Since then, diarrhea and fatigue have been my biggest issues, but manageable. I've also had some peeling hands and feet, and my hair has thinned a lot. That could be because of the thyroid, and I'm not expected to lose it all. All in all, the side effects have been minimal and tolerable, and I consider myself one very lucky woman! I wish you the best!!!

Hey Joe! I did this trial at MD Anderson (March 2015 – April 2015). At first I had a crazy rash that showed up 12 hours after my first infusion on all my "cancer spots." I made it through 3 of the 4 combo treatments. I then got seriously ill and was kicked out of the trial. BUT……my scans were awesome!!!! All my subq tumors are gone. My liver lesions are 80-90% reduced. I did one more dose of plain old Yervoy and am on Opdivo now. I have my next set of scans in mid-August. GOOD LUCK!!!!
