Hello allI was diagnosed with stage 1 b on my right ear unfortunately one of my lymph node was positive. I was told it was some micro metastasis (small amount of cancer cells in my lymph node). I had partial neck dissection with partial salivary gland taken out as well. Any way I am now 2 years later experiencing some facial pain with severe jaw pain at time. Also some Issues with my right ear as well same side where dissection was done. Fullness in the ear or ringing at night… Getting up in the morning. with fulness in the lower part of my jaw and below my right ear. All my scans are good no recurrence so far but wondering if I am dealing with side effects from the surgery still, 2 years later…..

I had a CLNB under my left jaw in August 2014. I have had a little pain off and on in that side of my neck since that surgery. I have felt a little pain in my left earlobe off and on since a WLE behind my ear in 2008. At the moment I feel a little pain in the left side of my neck and in my left earlobe. This discomfort could also be due to the radiation I received to a lymph node under my left jaw in April-May 2018. -

Have you had your ears checked? Post-surgical fluid can flow into the ears and muffle hearing and create the feeling of fullness your are describing. I could not hear about of one ear at all the last time I had a crainiotomy over my temple. An unrelated CT scan confirmed it. When I finally went to ENT he was able to drain. It definitely feels better. I don’t think I’m 100% but it better.I have a lot of nerve damage to my face and my jaw is only partially functional as a side effect from anesthesia. Apparently jaw damage is more common then people realize post-surgery.
And yes, lingering side effects are very common after head and neck surgeries.
